JINJER Frontwoman Says Quality Of Band's Music Has Nothing To Do With Gender Of Its Lead Singer

JINJER vocalist Tatiana Shmailyuk has dismissed suggestions that the band’s rise to international popularity is related to the fact that the group is fronted by a female.

“We explained many times that that’s not about sex,” she told Moshpit Passion in a new interview (see video below). “That’s not about the gender of a singer who’s in front of you singing.

“Once again, JINJER, from the beginning, was a male-fronted band,” she continued. “And nothing really changed [when I joined JINJER]. And I hope, if I someday leave the band and they get a male on the vocals, I’m sure the things will be as good as they are now, or even better. It doesn’t depend on sex. Absolutely.”

JINJER‘s five-song EP, “Micro”, was released on January 11 via Napalm Records.

The band recently provided direct support to DEVILDRIVER on the latter act’s U.S. tour, which kicked off on October 23 in Phoenix, Arizona. The tour wrapped on November 18 in San Diego, California.

Shmailyuk confirmed to Mexico’s MB Live that the band will soon begin work on the music for the follow-up to 2016’s “King Of Everything” album.

The band’s second studio LP, “Cloud Factory” — which originally came out in 2014 — was reissued last year with two live tracks.

“King Of Everything” was released in July 2016 via Napalm Records.
